Honest Christianity – if you smell something, say something

Jon Stewart 3

We have been fans of the American presenter, Jon Stewart for several years now. We were saddened to see that his time on the Daily Show has come to an end after 16 years. The blog title is a quote from his last show – it is how he signed off. It is more than just a quote, it is an edict to all of us in the light of feeling we are being deceived, or conned, or misled…

One of my old favourite jokes is Deja Moo – I have heard this BS before!

This is a good challenge to all of us committed to honest Christianity, when we hear or see bogus Christianity, to speak up, to call it for what it is, not a true reflection of the teaching of Jesus. Jon Stewart argued for vigilance/ to be on the outlook for untruths, misrepresentations – social media is a place that this happens but it is important in contexts beyond that.

It reminds me too of one of my favourite ethical sayings – all it takes for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.
