Wondering Wednesdays – airport bookshop browsing

I don’t like flying so I read to distract myself and when I have time I enjoy browsing in the bookshop and see if anything takes my fancy.

This book contains a lot of stories I had heard before in tweets or Facebook posts or other management books or even sermons. I bought it because I enjoy reading stories because they help me to connect back into mine. It is also helpful to read beyond what I am writing or teaching!

The first chapter is Steve Jobs’ question ‘what makes your heart sing?’. My answer on Monday when I flew back from Belfast was that my job and our organization, the Institute for Children, Youth and Mission, still makes my heart sing. To put it in the language of the letter to the Ephesians, equipping the saints for works of service, is still my passion, it makes my heart sing when I see and hear how students and graduates have grown, changed and made a difference in the places God called them to be. I learn so much from them.
