Honest Christianity: Intention or attention

“We pray with the door shut when, without our mouths and in perfect silence, we offer our petitions to the One who pays no attention to words, but looks hard at our hearts”. Abba Isaac

This would not be how I would traditionally understand prayer. It is too passive. But in recent years I have come to esteem intention, what I desire, plan to be, do. As long as this is not idle wishing, but real focus. Jesus was certainly interested in motive, our hearts, our attitudes. How pure are they? I might make mistakes, not know how to pray, what words to pray, but I trust God to know my heart.
